Betty Bastidas was born to be behind the camera lens. Known for creating compelling stories that bring her subjects to life, the native Ecuadorian uses her work to reveal and remind people of their sensibility as human beings. Betty has been the recipient of numerous awards: the 2006 fellow in Photography from the New York Foundation of the Arts, the Puffin Foundation grant, a scholarship from the Association of Hispanic Arts, a scholarship to the Santa Fe Photographic Workshops, participant of the National Association of Latino Arts and Culture Leadership Institute, Eddie Adams Workshop participant and the Nikon Emerging Photographer Scholarship to Missouri Photo Workshop.
